Lost tooth…for real!

On Friday when we were lining up after lunch recess, Lincoln came up to me and said, “Mom, I lost my tooth.” I said, “That’s great! You’ve been working at it for awhile.” With pools of tears in his eyes, he said, “No, mom. I really lost my tooth. I saw it fall out of my mouth, roll down my jacket, and bounce onto the pavement by tetherball and I can’t find it.”

One of my more observant kindergarten girls watched the whole thing go down. She grabbed Lincoln’s hand, and assured him that the Tooth Fairy is very good at finding lost teeth and that she would be able to find it that night wherever it may be on this playground.

Then she took him in to see the nurse because the nurse gives out cute little plastic tooth necklaces to kids when they lose teeth.

Well, that little girl was right. Because the Tooth Fairy did come and a note was found the next morning along with a dollar bill.

All is well in Lincoln’s world. Thanks Tooth Fairy. And thanks to the little girl with the exact right words at the exact right time.( And BTW…many hurts can be healed with junky little plastic trinkets like tooth necklaces.)
